Sim Lim Square, Singapore’s largest IT and electronics shopping mall, is a six-floor hub that draws tech enthusiasts from Singapore and beyond. Hosting over 500 merchants and attracting up to 10,000 visitors daily, the mall offers everything from home entertainment to computer components. Given the high volume of visitors, mall management recognized that providing free public Wi-Fi would vastly improve the shopping experience, enabling real-time connection for customers.

Challenges

Sim Lim Square faced multiple challenges in setting up a reliable Wi-Fi network:

1. Huge Demand for Access: With thousands of visitors daily, the mall needed a high-performance Wi-Fi solution to ensure seamless connectivity across all six floors, even during peak hours.

3. Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Requirement: Installing Wi-Fi equipment throughout the mall required PoE functionality, which would enable APs to run without complex wiring installations, especially in difficult-to-reach areas.
   
4. Limited Technical Staff: The mall had a limited technical team to manage the network. The solution needed to be easy to maintain and accessible for quick troubleshooting.

Solution
