How TP-Link Improved Guest Wi-Fi at Sandman Hotels

Sandman Hotel Group, a Canadian hotel chain with 47 properties, was experiencing a rise in guest complaints about slow and unreliable Wi-Fi. Recognizing that reliable connectivity was essential to staying competitive in a crowded market, Sandman prioritized upgrading its network to meet modern guest expectations.

To enhance guest satisfaction, they embarked on a project to upgrade their Wi-Fi infrastructure, partnering with Profusion Technologies and TP-Link Canada to deliver a high-quality network experience across their properties.

Challenges

Sandman Hotel Group faced mounting challenges in providing a quality Wi-Fi experience to guests. With 47 properties across Canada, guests had increasingly expressed dissatisfaction through front desk complaints and negative online reviews, citing slow and unreliable internet. The existing Wi-Fi infrastructure struggled to support guest needs, making simple tasks like checking emails, streaming, or accessing local information difficult.

Sandman needed a solution that offered reliable, high-speed internet access, robust coverage throughout the hotel premises, and simple, secure access for guests. With a significant proportion of their guests being business travelers, security was also critical.

Solution

To address these issues, Sandman Hotel Group engaged Profusion Technologies and TP-Link Canada. Together, they assessed the existing Wi-Fi infrastructure and pinpointed key areas for improvement. TP-Link’s advanced hardware solutions, such as the EAP245 access point, offered dual-band, high-speed connectivity and high-gain antennas for enhanced range and penetration through hotel walls.

Profusion and TP-Link redesigned the network, tested new access points, and provided 100% coverage in trial hotels, ensuring strong Wi-Fi signals even in traditionally weak spots. The Omada Centralized Management platform was introduced for secure, remote management and easy guest access via SMS authentication, improving the user experience while enhancing network security.
